Author Solutions Inc (ASI), the US publisher of print-on-demand books, has acquired the publishing assets of Trafford Publishing.
Established in 1995, Trafford Publishing of Victoria, British Columbia, was the world’s first company to offer an on-demand publishing service. ASI already owns several self publishing imprints including AuthorHouse, AuthorHouse UK, iUniverse, Xlibris and Wordclay. It is owned by private equity firm Bertram Capital.
Kevin Weiss, ASI president and ceo, said: “As more and more authors turn to indie book publishing, we are seeing strong double-digit growth in North America and the UK and we believe the time is right to accelerate our international expansion. The Trafford brand gives us a platform to help more writers become published authors around the globe.”
Tim Davies, managing director of AuthorHOuse UK, added: “Trafford dovetails perfectly with ASI’s existing brands and further enhances our position as the global leader in the provision of author services.”
During 2008, the ASI author services brands brought to market 21,000 new titles and across all imprints ASI’s catalogue now includes more than 120,000 titles from more than 90,000 authors.
