"My book launched; I did it at the Borders in Redmond; and was overwhelmed that there was a hundred and some books sold and you had standing room only there. A lot of it was friends and family. But, that was kind of an emotional event for me actually. I wasn’t expecting to be choked up."

Author Solutions Announces E-book Distribution Deal with Barnes & Noble’s nook™

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (March 1, 2010) — Author Solutions (ASI), the world leader in indie book publishing, announced today an e-book distribution deal with Barnes & Noble. Under terms of the agreement, e-book formats of all new ASI titles published through the AuthorHouse, iUniverse, Trafford Publishing, and Xlibris imprints will be made available for purchase through www.barnesandnoble.com and the Barnes & Noble e-book reader, nook™.

“The increasing popularity of e-books is leveling the playing field for emerging authors, and Barnes & Noble is a leading distributor of books in these formats,” said Kevin Weiss, ASI president and chief executive officer. “No longer is it a battle for limited shelf space in a brick-and-mortar store. New authors can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with ‘superstar’ authors and have their works available to anyone.”

A default price of $9.99 will be set for every title, but each author will have the opportunity to set his or her own price. E-book distribution through bn.com and nook™ will be included as a free service for all new black-and-white ASI titles.
