Los Angeles – On-demand and short-run books experienced a "stunning five-fold increase" in the number of titles published in 2007, according to Bowker – the global leader in bibliographic management. The expansion in self-published and other unclassified titles came amidst "basically flat" growth in the traditional publishing sector.
"Bowker's report clearly illustrates a changing tide in the book publishing industry.
