In 1998, digital printing and the internet opened a new door for writers. Authors no longer needed a traditional publisher to bring a book to market. Author Solutions helped pioneer supported self-publishing: independent publishing with professional services and guidance along the way.
Over time, we built imprints, expanded our production capabilities and partnered with established traditional publishers.
Today, our imprints have helped more than 260,000 authors publish more than 370,000 titles. Behind each book is the work of people across editorial, design, production, distribution and author support.
A New Chapter Under Family Ownership
In 2024, George Burnett acquired Author Solutions, and it became a family-owned company. Since then, George and his team have been looking at every step of publishing through the author’s eyes, from the first conversation through publication and beyond.
That work has already brought clearer pricing, more useful guidance, simpler manuscript submission process and better ways to resolve concerns if something goes wrong. We are also using technology to help authors make informed choices about their books, including how they are positioned and discovered.
