Building a Business by the Book

Fittingly, the title of Terry Hawkins’ self-empowerment book, Why Wait To Be Great?, could also describe her rapid rise through the ranks as an author – first taking the initiative to self-publish and shortly thereafter signing a contract with a traditional publisher. 

But this wasn’t Terry’s primary goal. Rather, it was just an achievement along the way while helping others and building her business.

As the founder of People in Progress Global, a professional training company, Terry is recognized as one of Australia’s most in-demand, award-winning leadership speakers. She has long helped others make life changes and achieve goals by helping answer “how.” When it came time to answer her own “how” – how to take the next step with her message and business – Terry chose to self-publish with iUniverse.

Bigger Platform, Broader Reach

Terry self-published her book through Open Book Editions, iUniverse’s partnership with traditional publisher Berrett-Koehler. Through that connection, she was able to introduce her motivating message to a new following. 

Her reach was only furthered when Why Wait was picked up by Berrett Koehler.
